Roles and Responsibilities
The Area Director is responsible for overseeing all grassroots, political and development outreach in Brooklyn and Queens, educating activists about American and Israeli political developments; teaching activists how to be effective pro-Israel advocates in the political arena. The Area Director must also inspire new people to become involved with AIPAC, while continuing to work with our current base of activists.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Plan and execute meetings and events:
- A series of educational briefings
- Several community-wide events per year
- Parlor meetings and outreach to new prospects
- Annual fundraising events for major donors
- Develop AIPAC lay leadership structure:
- Cultivating and recruiting new members
- Working with and strengthening the existing AIPAC Council
- Recruiting members for national and regional programs
- Manage and achieve annual fundraising goals in Brooklyn and Queens.
- Coordinate and execute annual development plan, which includes face-to-face solicitations of major donors.
- Deliver speeches and briefings on American and Israeli politics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and five years work experience in related field or commensurate experience.
- Knowledge of Brooklyn and Queens Jewish communities a plus.
- Knowledge of Israel and politics desirable.
- Experience in non-profit organizations a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven track record in face-to-face solicitations.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Public Speaking skills.
