The resolution urges the Palestinian leadership to advance democratic ideals by reforming the Palestinian political structure, advancing human rights, ending corruption, and dismantling the terrorist infrastructure. It also commends the Palestinians for holding free and fair elections and congratulates Mahmoud Abbas on his election as president of the Palestinian Authority.
