The House overwhelmingly approved a resolution that congratulates the State of Israel on its first appointment to a United Nations panel, the Committee on Program and Coordination (CPC). The resolution, passed by voice vote, notes the U.N.’s long history of bias, discrimination and anti-Semitism against Israel and its contrasting support for repressive regimes throughout the world. The resolution urges the United Nations "to officially and publicly condemn anti-Semitic statements made at all United Nations meetings” and “calls upon United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon to continue to work to end any unfair vilification of Israel at the United Nations.” The resolution was cosponsored by Reps. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) and Mark Kirk (R-IL).
